The desktop background picture consumes a fair amount of memory and slow downs the loading time of your system.If you are more concerned with performance rather than looks then you can remove the picture and go with a blank coloured background.To do that follow the instruction below:
1.Right click on the desktop and select 'properties.'
2.Select the 'desktop' tab and in the 'background' window, highlight 'none'.
3.press 'ok'.
