Here is an alternative quick approach to shutdown the computer:

1.Right click on the empty area in the desktop and then click NEW and then SHORTCUT.

2.In the first box of the Create Shortcut Wizard TYPE "Shutdown -s -t 00" and then
Click NEXT.

3.Name the shortcut as SHUTDOWN and click FINISH.

4.Then select an appropriate icon for it.

5.If you want to SHUTDOWN the computer just click that icon and no need to goto START and then select the TURNOFF.
